Guidelines for Editors

The following are general guidelines for invited scientific editors of the issue or of an individual topic of the journal.

They are based on recommendations for good practices of scientific publications, developed by the British Committee on Publication Ethics

General Provisions

Editors determine the style of the journal. Usually they get the reins of power from the hands of other editors and try to pass a viable publication to their successors.

Most editors are involved in development of publication policies and creation of a strong team of professionals.

Editors should consider and reconcile the interests of many parties, including readers, authors and other members of the editorial staff, journal owners, members of the Editorial Board, advertisers, and the mass media.

Practical Measures

  1. Editors must make a decision on acceptance or rejection of materials for publication, based solely on importance, originality, clarity, and relevance of the research for the topic of the journal.
  2. Editors should be especially benevolent to studies, which challenge provisions of the articles, previously published in this journal.
  3. One cannot reject materials of the studies with negative results obtained.
  4. All original articles have to pass a preliminary independent review; one should take into account all possible systematic errors, associated with coincidence or a conflict of interest.
  5. When working with any submitted materials, editors must abide by confidentiality.
  6. If any serious shortcomings are revealed in a published article, editors are required to publish a correction as soon as possible and draw the readers’ attention to the corresponding explanation.
