Abstract

One of the directions of the development of artificial intelligence (AI) – neural networks (NS) have been used in the USA since 2010 in order to ensure public safety and criminal justice. Judges, when passing sentence, take into account the results of the work of the NS in the field of crime forecasting and identifying the potential possibility of a criminal to commit a repeat crime. Using traditional methods of legal research, the author analyzes scientific papers in the field of applying the results of predictive modeling algorithms used in the NS to make a decision on sentencing in a criminal case in the United States.
