Abstract

The article considers an attempt to clarify the nature of the causal relationship between new information technologies and the proposed new society, to which the works of many modern scientists are devoted. Literally all the classics of the information society theory have dealt with these problems, and the research of Western sociologists Miles and Krishan Kumar, who believe that IT represents another step on the long path of technological evolution, is also devoted to it. The main provisions of the theory of succession, transformism, structuralism and Taylorism are considered, and the contradiction between supporters of succession, who claim that power structures will remain unaffected as a result of social changes, and some provisions of structuralism, asserting their possible change, as well as highlighting three ways of possible development (Miles), The study does not analyze a wide range of all directions and authors of structuralism, only some provisions are taken that correspond to the solution of the task set for this work.
