Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) raises the problem of endowing it with cognitive agency, which is currently understood in different ways. In this regard, the article aims to reveal not only what cognitive agency is, but also to show the specifics of its manifestation in AI. The article substantiates the idea that cognitive agency does not yet provide a basis for considering AI as a subject of cognition. At the same time, the possibility of such consideration is allowed in the future as the AGI (Artificial general intelligence) is formed.
