Abstract

The aspects of the online cinemas recommender systems influence on the cultural level of Russian viewers are investigated. A methodology is proposed for obtaining data on films watched and for forming viewer profiles based on the characteristics of films selected by viewers and recommended them on the information platforms. Based on statistical testing, it is determined whether recommendation systems form a broader cultural outlook or, on the contrary, limit users to a narrow range of preferences, creating a “filtering bubble”. The differences in the characteristics of selected for watching and recommended by artificial intelligence films are analyzed and the possible reasons for such differences are explained.
