Abstract

Noting the problem of inconsistency of ideas about the priority directions of human development in the field of information and communication technologies, the first part of the article examines the semantic field of the term "Communication" in its connection with the interpretation of "Information". The second part analyzes the aspects of "Information competence" in connection with modern trends in the development of competencies and qualifications. This makes it possible to clarify the idea of ICT competencies, which are especially important in the light of the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence, as well as the advent of the "second age of machines".
