Abstract

The paper describes the current stage of the so-called productivity paradox (large investments in IT do not lead to an increase in firms' productivity). Based on data from OECD countries, the existence of the productivity paradox has been empirically confirmed: in 2010-2019, as well as in 2008-2022, labor productivity growth rates were significantly lower than those in 1993 – 2007. The reason for the productivity paradox is a significant time lag between the emergence of new general-purpose technologies and the emergence of organizational practices and human capital characteristics that support them. New signs of the emergence of such practices are suggested.
