Abstract

The article examines the causes of "digital inequality" in the modern information society, its main forms, and measures to reduce it. It shows that the transition to a digital society does not automatically solve the problems of poverty and does not reduce socioeconomic inequality. On the contrary, the uneven distribution of information and communication technologies can exacerbate the contradictions between countries and between different social groups within countries. It has been shown that overcoming digital inequality involves a wide range of measures aimed both at solving technical problems and at implementing measures to overcome the negative socioeconomic consequences of the widespread use of information technologies in society.
