Information Technologies in Studying of Elderly People’s Well-Being

Abstract

Global demographic changes demonstrate a trend of an aging of population and, as a consequence, the importance of the elderly person as an economic and political actor.

The article considers one of the approaches to solving the multifaceted issue of elderly people’s well-being enhancement. The authors have analyzed the role of information technologies in reducing social isolations of an elderly person, especially after retirement. As an example, the authors describe LifeShare project implemented in Tomsk Polytechnic University and intended to ensure that elderly people have the feeling of being involved and needed.
