Scientific Library of a Higher Education Institution in the Information Society: from Vision to Reality (case: Scientific Library of the Perm State National Research University)

Abstract

The article shows the place of modern scientific university libraries in the information society. The object of the article is the Research Library of the Perm State National Research University. The issues of introduction of information technologies in library activities are investigated taking into account some peculiarities of their application. The experience of using information technologies in library work to support training and research activities of teachers and students is considered. The directions of development of information and communication technologies in the library activities in connection with the effectiveness and efficiency of the educational environment of the university are formulated.
