Peculiarities of IT Specialists’ Motivation in Latvia

Abstract

The article discusses approaches to the motivation of IT specialists in modern Latvia in the context of various theories, generations and cultures. Classical and modern theories of motivation are categorized and evaluated, and their applicability to the information and communication technology industry is assessed. Contradictions between the existing studies of IT specialists’ motivation and general patterns of motivation processes are revealed.
