Hackers, Digital Activists and Bloggers: on the Issue of Their Engaging in Countering Extremist and Terrorist Activities in the Internet

Abstract

Nowadays the development of technologies used by extremist and terrorist groups leaves behind the capabilities of intelligence agencies of states that are engaged in countering information threats. The importance of new social groups increases in the terms of information confrontation: representatives of social groups such as hackers, bloggers and digital activists are to take part in countering information threats. The author proposes to take a closer look at the features of the activities of hackers, digital activists and bloggers in order to research the ways of interaction with them which could provide countering information threats to national security.
