Abstract

Information as the driving force of the modern world is a constant and relevant topic of numerous modern studies. Information is such an important component of modern society that the society itself is called informational. However, there is no consensus on what is still considered the main criterion of this society, what are the main criteria for its allocation, as well as what are the mechanisms for its development, but there is a number of doctrines that convincingly defend their own positions on solving this difficult issue. The article attempts to systematize the theories of the information society, to consider and analyze the myth associated with the concept of the “information age”, as well as to analyze the constructivist approach and prove its fruitfulness for the study of this topic.
