Abstract

Information resources are a multifaceted and multi–layered concept, constantly replenished with a new meaning. However, the appearance and scale of the rapid spread of false information require an explanation of the reasons for the transformation of some of the information resources that previously served as a means of developing society into "anti-resources" that contribute to its degradation. To do this, the article attempts an in-depth clarification of the semantics of such concepts as representation, model, simulacra, simulation. This made it possible to create a scheme for the transformation of representations into an information resource and identify places in it where distorted information appears voluntarily or involuntarily. As a result, it becomes possible to determine the degree of its influence on the development or, conversely, the degradation of society.
