Abstract

The article is aimed at researching R&D costs, patent activity in the field of quantum communications in the Russian Federation, the European Union, South Korea, Japan, Canada and Australia from 2014 to 2022, an analysis of the prospects for the development of the quantum communications market in the Russian Federation. The results of the study indicate an increase in spending on both applied and basic research in most of the countries considered. Despite Russia's leadership in financing scientific research, there is a low patent activity of the subjects of the national innovation system. It has been determined that the quantum communications market in the Russian Federation is at the first stages of its formation and is developing in accordance with the “technology push” principle. To accelerate the formation of a high-tech direction, it is worth paying attention to increasing the effectiveness of applied research aimed at creating client-centric products, attracting telecommunications and high-tech companies to technology development.
