Key Competences for the Digital Economy

The problem of rethinking the content of education under conditions of massive digital transformation is discussed. The necessity of supplementing the basic professional or fundamental education with ‘super professional’ skills for an individual’s successful self-realization in a rapidly changing and technological world is substantiated. The approaches to the systematization of the skills needed for the digital economy are analyzed. A framework for the development of such skills is proposed.

Not to Fall Behind in Development: Russia and Mathematical Education in the Information Society

In the modern world, any nation that wants to keep pace with development of its neighbors must have an adequate education system to prepare specialists for a new digital economy. Nowadays, the most popular is STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, which is based on mathematics. The article analyzes the level of mathematical education and science in Russia. Main problems of STEM education in Russia and government support for it are considered. The conclusion is made on the necessity to coordinate government support to STEM education and actions on creation of comfortable conditions for doing business, new jobs for young professionals and increase the prestige of the profession of a scientist in Russia.

Prognostics of Alexander Panarin: Transcendental Cultural Categories and the Global Cognitive Continuum

Culture as a cumulative expression of the historical experience of civilizational development in its material and spiritual forms, reflecting the traditional value system, is a key element in the introduction of the human dimension into the mechanism for constructing a global cognitive continuum. The potential of culture, existing as a priori cultural category at the level of archetypes of the collective unconscious, included in information processes, ensures the unity of assessments and the consistency of the approaches of different countries in the choice of goals, ways and means of civilizational development.

Media Convergence as a Process of Integration of Media Innovations in the Networking Community

This article discusses the theme of media convergence in the social aspect. The aim of the study is to identify trends, problems and prospects of this unique phenomenon. Research methodology was based on a synthesis of theoretical and practical material, structuring the available information and expert assessment method, which allowed us to obtain data to justify the conclusions of the study on media convergence as the integration of media innovations in online community. As the result of media convergence, the three emerging trends can be identified: multimedia product, hypertextuality and new media. New media have created and continue to shape social communication model. Media innovations lead to new forms and ways of presenting information, influencing its perception, thinking of its consumers, updating the social aspect of the media convergence processes.

Information TV Programs in the Format of “Breaking News”: Composition, Technology and Peculiarities of Media Perception

The scientific understanding of “breaking news” as a special format of information programs on television is studied in the article. In terms of composition, the informational TV programs in the format of “breaking news” are built on the principle of narrative. In their discursive strategies, journalists combine direct “hard” information and rhetoric of grief. The results of the author’s online survey «“Breaking news”: Phenomenon of media perception» (n=400) confirmed that the audience mostly concerned and worried by the news about emergency incidents. At the same time, information on such incidents is sought by respondents through television. As for the social effects of news in the format of “breaking news”, the majority of respondents described their reactions as horror. Such strong reactions arise in the result of operating the infothrilling technology.

Limits of Legal Regulation in the Digital Age

The article reveals and examines four groups of factors forming limits of governmental regulation of social relationships. These limits include uniformity of regulated relationships; perceptibility of rules established by such regulation; territorial borders; private life. Denial of such limits by the widely spread doctrine of positivism causes serious problems in regulation of digital economy in Russia. The article contains recommendations on how to overcome the emerging problems by keeping the balance of interests of the parties involved.

Pilgrimage and Religious Tourism in the Information Society

This article considers the state of the pilgrim tradition and religious tourism in the information society. Formed in new civilizational conditions, a new type of religiosity deforms the pilgrimage tradition and includes it in the sphere of tourist industry. In addition to changing the status of pilgrimage in the information society, new types of religious tourism are formed. This article offers an analysis of one of them, which we propose to call “religious and simulation tourism”.
