Abstract

The article analyzes а massive open online course (MOOC) features as an educational resource, reveals the ambiguity of the concept of “legal literacy” content, outlines current problems and prospects for the further use of MOOCs to increase the level of individual and general legal literacy. On the basis of dialectic, logic and system methods, analysis of regulations and scientific sources on the article topic, educational online platforms resources and the social surveys conducted in Russian universities results conclusions are drawn about the advisability of embedding MOOCs in a blended learning format, about the need to optimize the content of massive open online legal courses to ensure their practice-oriented and multi-level nature, about the urgency of developing a national legal framework for the MOOCs preparation and use in the educational programs implementation.
