The Russian video game market: specialists and their roles in product development

Abstract

The article analyzes the structure of the domestic video game market through the prism of modern professions in the industry. The results of semi-structured expert interviews with representatives of six game studios (Sobaka Studio (I1), Vintorog (I2), Geeky House (I3), Flyin Dogs (I4), Lesta Games (I5), Red Spell (I6)), as well as with representatives of online schools in the field of video game development are presented (XYZ (I7), Narratorika (I8)). Based on the results obtained, data on existing professions in the gaming industry and the responsibilities that professionals must fulfill are structured, the video game development cycle is defined, data on the structure of the gaming industry, the specifics of the organization of teams and the distribution of workload between professionals are obtained.
