Abstract

The experience goods market is actively growing within the information society. Despite the current discussion in the field of the economic sociology and the growing volume of data on the subject, there is a deficit of empirical works that study mechanisms of experience goods evaluation. In this paper, authors examine the role of digital traces in the process of selection and evaluation of experience goods (on the cases of city attractions, hotels and brands), using the data from the internet platforms containing reviews and discussions about goods and experiences. Most popular methods of opinion analysis, examples of methods’ usage and the main pros and cons of these methods are given.
