Abstract

China’s digital economy is developing at an accelerated pace. The purpose of this study is to identify the reasons for this success and to assess the applicability of China’s experience to Russian practice. To achieve this objective, the paper analyses the digital transformation cases of 50 Chinese companies from various industries and regions in the context of government support measures for transformation processes. Based on the case studies, the preconditions (expectations) of companies’ digital transformation were identified and compared with the results obtained. It seems that the results of the study will be useful to both representatives of domestic business and the academic community. They will help the former to avoid many mistakes and disappointments from digital transformation, while the latter will provide material for consideration in the search for the most effective mechanisms, methods, and tools for managing digital transformation.
